Part 8 of ‘things you didn’t know about Iran Trotter’

The popular Iranian ecotourism series host comments on the show: part 8.

The Iran Trotter host Javad Gharaei has in interviews with local media outlets, made so many interesting tips about the show and himself, in response to journalistic questions. Here’s part 8 of his comments.

In the 7th installment of the series, you read about the hardships, and at times dangerous situations the team faced. Let’s continue.

There were so many obstacles on our way; too many. Hiking and climbing is different from walking. For example, up until the end of ‘Iran Trotter 2’, we’d travelled 75 thousand km, of which 1500 was on the mounts; I can say that’s equivalent to 4500 km of walking.

The choice of the locations was based on my journeys across the country. As I said before, we aimed at having so many beautiful pictures of the pristine nature, and of the people whose culture is still intact. We wanted the ‘Iran Trotter’ to influence people’s hearts, and besides introducing beautiful places, have science and education included, too.

The hardships were many, including being away from our families, and taking too many trips. At times, we’d visit remote areas, which were in some cases dangerous. Sleeplessness, hunger and thirst, lack of restrooms and bathrooms, etc. are just some of the difficulties. For example, we’d sometimes take a shower every 1 or 2 weeks. The journeys on foot were sometimes unbearable, and we’d have to sleep in tents or nomads’ houses all the time, and sometimes in cattle houses.

There were days when we’d eat canned food only, and you know it’s not good for your health.

Besides the hunger, you’d have to tolerate extreme cold or hot weather, and sometimes survive sandstorms. Thanks to God, we’ve been able to finish the parts shot so far, and display the beautiful Iran in our documentary.

In the next installment, you’ll read about how the entire project started in the first place, and how it went on.
